Finissage Nomads in the Art Salon, 10.9.2006, 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
After nearly nine months the exhibition "Nomads in the Art Salon" is being brought to a close with an afternoon of films, a guided tour and a saxophone and piano recital. Kilim collector Dr. Norbert Prammer and the Lentos curators Mag. Andrea Bina and Dr. Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller will guide visitors round the exhibition one last time and afterwards review the activities that were staged as part of the exhibition.
Finissage programme
4 p.m. Guided tour, led by the collector and the curators
5 p.m. Saxophone and piano recital in the reading room
2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Nomad film afternoon in the auditorium
Fascinating ethnological film documentaries provide insights into the life and struggle for survival of nomadic tribes and into the art of carpet weaving.
2 p.m. "Grass. A Nation´s Battle for Life". The struggle of a tribe of nomads for survival, by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, silent film, 1925 (72 mins.)
3.30 p.m. "Teppich Geheimnisse" (Carpet secrets). How a carpet is created, by Barbara Trottnow, 1999 ZDF arte (43 mins.)
4.30 p.m. "People of the Wind", 1976 (110 mins.) A breath-taking journey across Iran: the annual migration of the Bakhtiari nomads with their cattle over the Zagros Mountains to the summer pastures.
(Admission to the museum includes the films. A ticket for the guided tour costs €2)
