Sundays at 11 - "Sculptures" - or what?

Stella Rollig in conversation with the artists
Helmuth Gsöllpointner, Julie Hayward, Marko Lulic
22 October 2006, 10.00 am - 1.00 pm

A great interest in "sculpture" has been evident recently. Yet contemporary three-dimensional works can scarcely be characterized with the traditional art genres of sculpture and object, as the traditional characteristics seem to be largely irrelevant. Which opportunities and problems are inherent to a concept of art that regards genre boundaries as flowing? Methods based on a division of labor are gradually becoming established, in which the artist conceives the work, but the execution is frequently taken over by a professional workshop. What is the state of the aura of three-dimensional art produced in this way, and what is the role played by New Media within this genre?
Three work reports in conjunction with the exhibition A Shared Place from the artists Helmuth Gsöllpointner, Julie Hayward and Marko Lulic.
