Jack Hauser: SINGING / A CHANCE TO SEE TENDERNESS
3 hours of performance by Jack Hauser with Sabina Holzer and David Ender
Thurs., 14 December 2006, 6 - 9 pm
The Name. The Cover. The Adventure was the title of the intervention by the artist a year ago in Lentos.
Now it is also the title of the newly published catalogue that condenses the wide-ranging actions by the ex-fimmaker Jack Hauser.
Krassimira Kruschkova in her catalogue text on Jack Hauser´s performative work:
He does not identify with his practice, even if he dissolves into it; he does not re-establish reality, he faces this practice - as the accompanist of his material. There is something awkward about Jack Hauser's actions, awk-ward is the sense of going astray as the address is not clear - an undeliverable gift. This is just as little comprehensible as Kleist's or Nancy's texts. It can only be demonstrated, as an agent of himself, not sent but commissioned with a very special mission. And it is there where artful skillfulness is interrupted by something awkward that meaning first becomes possible as incalculably unpredictable.
Jack Hauser forgets his practice to learn it again anew, to keep watch in the unexpected, the uncalculated, the unpredictable - as a passer-by, so to speak – for what might occur: as though for the first time: "happiness. it can happen. like magic."
The catalogue (A5/40 pages/4-colors) will be presented for the first time in conjunction with the performance in the foyer of the museum.
