Art Goes to the Country
A visit with Robert Mittringer, Alois and Annerose Riedl, Monika Perzl and Christine Stieger.
On 13 October 2007 “Art Goes to the Country” once again offered an opportunity to view art in the place where it is made and to talk with the artists directly. This time the group visited Christine Stieger (Galerie in der Schmiede, Pasching), Alois and Annerose Riedl (Brunnenthal near Schärding), Monika Perzl (Galerie am Stein, Schärding) and Robert Mittringer (Eferding).
Robert Mittringer, Alois and Annerose Riedl are regarded as leading Austrian artists. All three have already been awarded the Cultural Prize of the Federal Province of Upper Austria. Whereas Alois Riedl and Robert Mittringer redefine the fine line between figuration and abstraction again and again in paintings and objects, Annerose Riedl carves expressive, deeply perceptive character studies from wood. All three are also linked by their tradition of exhibiting in the Galerie in der Schmiede in Pasching, where Ms. Stieger is currently presenting an exhibition on Gottfried Ecker and Ulrich Waibel. In Schärding we visited the Galerie am Stein, which represents contemporary artists such as Arnulf Rainer, Günter Brus, Kiki Kogelnik and Ulrike Stubenböck.
