Sundays at 11 with Laurids Ortner

Stella Rollig in conversation with Laurids Ortner
Sun., 18 November 2007, 11 am - 1 pm

On the Art of Building?
Or of Building Art?

Vienna around 1970 - that is the time of new beginnings that is recalled to mind in the exhibition HAUS-RUCKER-CO LIVE again and reflected on from today's perspective. As founding member of the visionary, radical, actionist artist-architect group and "starting pretty radically from the situation", there was much that Laurids Ortner wanted to do "differently" from what had then become established in architecture, urban planning, art and society. Being able to move freely between fine art and architecture was the precondition for this.

Nearly four decades later, after many striking stations in the work of Laurids Ortner: following actions and exhibitions, temporary objects in urban space - including the scandalized Nike in Linz - by HAUS-RUCKER-CO, following numerous buildings by the firm of Ortner & Ortner Building Art realized internationally (including in Berlin: Leipziger Platz Carre, ARD Capital City Studios; Vienna: Museum Quarter, currently: Wien Mitte) - a conversation as a review and as a diagnosis of the current times.
