Long Night of Museums 2008

This year Lentos again offers a very special program for the Long Night of Museums: Oskar Kokoschka and photography are the main attractions.

This year at the Lentos Art Museum, the Long Night of Museums centers around Oskar Kokoschka and artistic photography from the Museum Collection. Following the three exhibitions devoted to Oskar Kokoschka in Austria, there is one very last opportunity - in Linz - to discover this outstanding Austrian painter close up. In the largest exhibition hall in Austria, surprising photographic highlights from the Lentos Collection are to be discovered; adjacent to this you can dive into the world of Kokoschka. The program offers special Kokoschka and photography tours as well as creative Kokoschka ateliers - and all of this for every age group.

ART HISTORIES (6:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Guided tours through the current exhibitions every hour
Meeting point at the cash desk in the museum foyer

OSKAR KOKOSCHKA ATELIER (7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
An "Oskar Kokoschka Atelier" is set up in the annex room at the end of the Oskar Kokoschka exhibition, where adults and children - inspired by the exhibition - can give themselves up to their artistic impulses. Kokoschka's colors resonate here, expressive, moving and vibrant. Color becomes sensually tangible in the atelier, for instance as Kokoschka's pictures are translated into the visitors' own experiences of color from construction paper.

MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM - AROUND THE CLOCK
Musical entertainment is provided in the foyer by the Linz Music School - and that in the highest quality: jazzy piano solos, whistling flutes, "Bumba Bossa" like from Brazil, and audacious klezmer from Upper Austria. Everyone swings along! At every hour on the hour, starting at 8:00 pm.

7:50 - 8:00 pm: Flauto a Tre present C.Ph.E. Bach and Matthias Friedrich
8:00 - 8:20 pm: Kla-2-3-vier4 - young ladies on the piano and a "piano man" play (8) modern pieces for 2 and 4 hands and in combination with three flutes
8:50 - 9:00 pm: 2 guitars & drums interpret songs from Eric Clapton to Rainer Falk
9:00 - 9:10 pm: 20 flinke Finger tell a story with concert castagnettes and piano
9:50 - 10:20 pm: "Stark und Frejlach" play the finest in klezmer music
11:00 - 11:15 pm: Overtone Impressions
11:40 pm - open end: Bumba Bossa

ART-QUIZ-JOURNEY
An art journey of a different kind awaits the guests who take part in the ART-QUIZ-JOURNEY. Visitors who are able to answer challenging questions about the exhibition program - especially about "Kokoschka" and "Traces of Light" - can win wonderful prizes from the Lentos Shop. The questions for the ART-QUIZ-JOURNEY are available by the entrance (ORF booth for the Long Night). Following a closed drawing, the winners will be notified in the second week of October.

SUCH BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE SHOP
The Lentos Shop flea market opens again this year just in time for the Long Nicht - such beautiful things.

LENTOS WONDER-BAR
Every night owl needs both refreshment and relaxation in between: good drinks and sandwiches from the Lentos WONDER-Bar provide our guests with an opportunity to retreat from the bustle of the night for a few minutes - and that in the auditorium with a view of the illuminated city and the Danube.
