Hotel LENTOS*****
During the Long Night of the Museums on 2 October 2010, the LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz will be turned into the Hotel LENTOS with five stars.
Transformation for one night - the LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz will be turned into the Hotel LENTOS with five stars. The 800m2 exhibition hall is arranged and staged to present itself to visitors as a mixture of "Im wiessen Rössl" and Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining".
Parallels and contrasts between museum and hotel will be developed and filtered using acoustic and visual techniques; the fragmentary architecture creates space for involvement, reinterpretation and experiments. Performers and visitors will redefine the space together to bring Hotel LENTOS***** to life.
Hotel LENTOS***** is not only a performance, though. All the usual structures of a hotel are there: from the reception to rooms of various categories all the way to the breakfast room and hotel bar with live music to make the adventure of "spending the night in the museum" complete.
The attentive staff will be available to the guests at all times and will attempt to live up to the five-star standard of Hotel LENTOS.
As a special attraction, a good-night concert will be offered to the overnight visitors, which will make the extraordinary atmosphere at the intersection between hotel and museum even more intense.
