New Acquisitions 2008

The Lentos Collection is constantly growing. In keeping with the collection strategy, works are acquired for the Collection in conjunction with exhibitions. We are especially pleased and grateful that these acquisitions are repeatedly supplemented by generous donations from the artists.

Following the successful exhibition of HAUS-RUCKER-CO in 2007/08, the museum acquired historical works by Klaus Pinter and Günter Zamp Kelp.

An extensive collage series by Christian Hutzinger was purchased for the photography show Lichtspuren / Traces of Light; in conjunction with the same show, Werner Schrödl donated a large photograph. From the exhibition EVA & ADELE a selection of drawings and the painting Alpenmedusa have remained in the house.
The young Austrian painter Isa Schmidlehner is now represented in the Collection with a large format painting. The object Kleiner Mond / Small Moon by Johannes Vogel, who has received international attention since Manifesta 2008, has also been acquired.

In 2008 a large solo exhibition was dedicated to Lois and Franziska Weinberger. Now a multi-part work complex by the artist couple is also among the holdings of the Collection. The purchase of a Head was accompanied by the donation of the work Wegrandhaus / Wayside House and a plant color panel from the series Feld / Field.

For further donations, Lentos is grateful to Eva Schlegel for two large photo works and to the collector and donor Mag. Gerhard Fischer-Colbrie (Alois Frohner, Allen Jones, et al.).

Works by Ingeborg Strobl, Elisabeth Plank, Deutschbauer/Spring and Kurt Kocherscheidt (donation from the Association of Friends of the Lentos Art Museum) have enriched the Collection of Graphic Art/Photography.
