New Acquisitions
Works have been purchased in 2006 in conjunction with existing collection focal points as well as ongoing research projects (focal point sculpture). Important works have been secured for the museum from artists, to whom exhibitions have been devoted. One significant new acquisition is Matt Mullican's "Aluminium Database" (1993 - 2005), which was donated to the museum at the conclusion of Mullican's exhibition by the Association of Friends and Patrons of Lentos. Following Gottfried Helnwein's exhibition, three of his works have remained in the house.
New acquisitions for the sculpture/installation sectin of the collection are from Dorothee Golz ("Lebensentwurf 2004", 2004) and from Lois and Franziska Weinberger ("... und eins zu keins", 2005).
Acquisitions of art photography include works by Canan Dagdelen, Ingeborg Strobl, Martin Osterider, and the graphic art collection has been expanded with drawings by Ulrike Lienbacher. The addition of Vanessa Jane Phaff's large format linoleum cut "Lisa, her is Lisa" (2005) to the collection was made possible through generous support from the Dutch Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.
