The collection Hellmut and Norli Czerny encloses 782 paintings, drawings and graphic arts which were donated to our museum of modern and contemporary art during the last 20 years. It is the largest and most important donation which the New Gallery ever has received since the fondation in the year 1952.

Main parts of the Czerny donation are examples of the art between the wars such als Axl Leskoschek, Koloman Moser, Oskar Kokoschka, Kurt Weber and Wilhelm Thöny. Further drawings and graphics of the period of Informel and Ecolé de Paris (Manessier, Sugai, Hartung, Schneider, Santomaso, Saura, Sonderborg, Prachensky, Schumacher, Staudacher) and characteristic works of concrete art by Vasarely, Uecker, Lenk, Pfahler, Dorazio and Krushenick. The art of the 8oth "die Neuen Wilden" are presented by Siegfried Anzinger, Alois Mosbacher, Alfred Klinkan, Roman Scheidl, Gunter Damisch and Erwin Bohatsch.

Mrs. and Mr. Czerny – they are living in Graz - donated during the last 20 years also drawings by individualists from the Austrian art scene such as Karl Anton Fleck, Hannes Schwarz, Peter Bischof, Mario Decleva, K.H. Klopf, Drago J. Prelog and Alois Riedl. A series of precious lithographs and etchings by Jan Voss completes this with sensitive attention collected donation.

This exhibition will present about 150 works and is accompanied by a catalogue: € 20,-- (reduced € 16,--)
