Keith Haring 1989 View of the Exhibition Biography |
||||||||||||||
| Right at the start of the new year 2002, the
Neue Galerie of the City of Linz strikes a powerful final chord in its
old residence before moving to the new Lentos Museum, scheduled for the
end of 2002, with a sensational Keith Haring exhibition including 19 large
format paintings and 34 drawings. With its clear tendency toward religious and existential issues, the exhibition revolves around the theme of "Heaven and Hell". The exhibition will open on 24 January. Closing day is 21 April 2002. In addition to works on loan from the Keith Haring Foundation New York and private collectors from Germany, Italy and Switzerland, the Neue Galerie also shows its own Keith Haring works from the gallery's collection, a painting from 1987 and 8 middle-sized drawings. In the church Friedenskirche in Linz Urfahr, an important monumental work by Keith Haring entitled "Heaven and Hell" (7.9 m x 11.1 m) will be exhibited directly above the main altar from 24 January to 14 March 2002. The Haring retrospective will be accompanied by an extensive art education program (tours, lectures, workshops, museum education events, film screenings and much more). |
