"Sowohl als auch, aber weder noch" - "Both and Neither"

Biography

K.U.SCH: = renate Krätschmer Und jörg SCHwarzenberger
Both born 1943 in Vienna, both graduates of the College of Applied Arts in Vienna
1969 start of their collaboration, since 1972 as the cooperative K.U.SCH.

Their artistic development led through an exploration of "Land Art" and "Concept Art" to a kind of universal understanding of art and life, in which the boundaries between art and not-art are open, leading to a striving for every possible relevant cross-connection and opening up a spectrum from "art as spectacle" to "art as research". Most of all, this means: building objects (the thing as a construction), absurd objects, objects of daily use (furniture, clothing), concepts of space, spatial installations, actions, actions, animations, performances, music, films, collages, written articles on cultural issues.

From 1966
to 1971
they created a series of works in the landscape (field interventions): Makrigialos (Crete), Stara Baska (Krk), Lindabrunn (Lower Austria), which were continued from 1978 on with garden projects. The terraced places (school and residential park) realized between 1975 and 1978 are also part of this series.
