Erwin Heerich (*1922 Kassel, GER; † 2004 Meerbusch-Osterrath, GER) studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf from 1945 – 54. From 1959 this German concept and minimal artist concentrated primarily on cardboard sculpture. The basis of visual art is the sketch from which sculptures, architecture and the design of everyday utensils derive. From 1969 to 1988 chair at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

The Linz sculpture is characterized by mathematical calculation and threedimensional proportion. The aluminium object is based on basic geometric shapes and easily checkable laws. In 2000 the sculpture was removed from the Donaupark while the Lentos was being built, in 2006 it was put back with the support of LINZ AG.
