Max Bill (*1908 Winterthur, SUI; † 1994 Berlin, GER) attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zürich from 1924 – 1927. 1927 – 29 studies at the Bauhaus college of design, Dessau. From 1930 work as an architect and painter in Zürich, as a sculptor from 1932. 1932 member of abstraction-création. 1936 and 1951 Grand Prix for design from the Swiss Section at the Triennale di Milano. From the beginning of the 1940s painting as the creation and control of colour energies over an area using geometric structures; favoured element: the square.


The Pavilion sculpture III” is based on the principle of the cube in connection with an examination of the subject of usable three-dimensional sculpture. His first work in this vein (1969) is in the Hakone-Park-Museum in Japan.
