The exhibition presents six selected works by winners of the 2026 Prix Ars Electronica (4,329 submissions from 106 countries) and the European Commission’s 2026 S+T+ARTS Prize (2,719 submissions from 110 countries)—mostly works that were awarded a Golden Nica or a Grand Prize.
With great urgency, the works on display challenge our understanding of “humanity”—a concept we have long taken for granted. They shed new light on it from a wide variety of perspectives: from physical perception to the logic of capitalist technologies and the new autonomous creativity of AI, all the way to history, geopolitics, and the climate crisis. Together, the award-winning works reveal that what we consider “human” is not fixed but constantly changing. In doing so, they give this year’s festival theme, NEGOTIATING HUMANITY, a powerful expression.
