Recognized by many of his contemporaries as a leading member of the Brücke art group, Max Pechstein played a central role in the German avant-garde during the first decades of the 20th century. The retrospective at the Lentos brings together key works from various phases of his career and focuses in particular on Pechstein’s relationship with Wolfgang Gurlitt, the founder of the predecessor institution of the Lentos Kunstmuseum in Linz.
