Art Studio for Adults to Katrin Plavčak
Katrin Plavčak, Parallel Worlds, 2022
How can painting be used to respond to a world that is increasingly falling apart? In her exhibition Katrin Plavčak: Painting Reality in Surreal Times at the Lentos Art Museum, the artist shows how social injustices and contradictions can be addressed through humor, imagination, and surrealist painting.
Inspired by Plavčak’s artistic approach, participants will explore the possibilities of Surrealism: They will experiment with colors, shapes, and motifs from comics, advertising, and popular culture. Familiar images will be taken out of their usual context, combined in unexpected ways, and transformed into enigmatic, fantastical visual worlds.
Artist Klaus Scheuringer guides participants with practical tips and individualized support. The focus is on the joy of painting, experimentation, and artistic freedom. No prior experience is required.
Art supplies (acrylic paint, brushes, paper, canvas) will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
