Lentos Featured Artist Crossing Europe 2022

Dietmar Brehm’s oeuvre comprises drawings, prints, paintings, and photographs in addition to films and videos. To illustrate these many facets of his artistic creativity the Lentos presents a special exhibition on the occasion of his 75th birthday, curated by the artist himself. All works form part of the Museum’s own collections. 

The core element is a black box with a select film programme that offers visitors the opportunity of an immersive experience of his experimental films and videos. The second part of the exhibition presents paintings, prints, and photographs in a highly personal, associative arrangement, focussing on less well-known aspects of the artist. The aim is to give visitors an overview of his oeuvre.

Dietmar Brehm (born in Linz in 1947) studied painting at the Linzer Kunstschule, today’s Kunstuniversität, and was Full Professor of Nude Drawing at this institute until 2012. Many exhibitions and film screenings both in Austria and abroad. In 2020, he received Upper Austria’s highest award for cultural achievement, the Alfred-Kubin-Preis.
