Lentos Friends

Friends support and help one another where they can. For example in researching, collecting, preserving and communicating. The Association of Friends of the Lentos aims to support and promote the museum. Through the purchase of art works the association supports the museum direction in further expanding the Collection. Since the Association was founded in 1985, members have purchased works by Tony Cragg, Gerwald Rockenschaub or EVA & ADELE and others. With their friendship they contribute to strengthening Lentos as one of the leading addresses for modern and contemporary art, thus promoting the important social, artistic and academic tasks of the museum. The museum also gives something back to you as a good friend: you become part of a pulsating art scene and provide – tax deductible – support for one of the most important museums of modern and contemporary art in Austria.

Sat 27.07	Lentos Freunde: Ausflug ins Salzkammergut Programm: Die Anreise erfolgt individuell. Dabei sollten Sie einen Besuch im Stollen des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers Ebensee, das auf dem Weg liegt, mit der Besichtigung der beeindruckenden Installation von Chiharu Shiota (ca.1Stunde Gesamtzeit, geöffnet ab 10 Uhr) unbedingt einplanen. 12.00 Uhr: Altes Marktrichterhaus, Lauffen bei Bad Ischl „Das Leben der Dinge. Geraubt – verschleppt – gerettet“ Direktorin Hemma Schmutz führt durch die von ihr und Markus Proschek kuratierte Ausstellung, die anhand zeitgenössischer Positionen das Schicksal von Kunstwerken und Artefakten zwischen Raub, Verschleppung und Restitution beleuchtet. Das Spektrum der Werke reicht von der Auseinandersetzung mit kolonialem Raub und teils fragwürdiger Sammeltätigkeit, staatlich geplantem Kunstraub und Enteignung im Dritten Reich, bis hin zum kulturellen Genozid durch Verschleppung und Vernichtung von Kulturgütern. Die Künstler*innen der Ausstellung geben Impulse zu neuen Strategien, wie Museen und Sammlungen mit diesem belastenden Erbe umgehen können, um ihre Verantwortung zwischen Restitution und Bewahrung unseres Kulturerbes wahrzunehmen. 13.15 Uhr: Besuch des Kaiserin Elisabeth Kaffeehauses und / oder Bummel durch den Ort, Besichtigung der Kirche, etc. Fahrt nach Bad Aussee 14.30 Uhr: Kammerhofmuseum Bad Aussee „Wolfgang Gurlitt. Kunsthändler und Profiteur in Bad Aussee“ Facettenreich beleuchtet die Gastausstellung des Lentos das bewegte Leben des leidenschaftlichen Sammlers und Berliner Kunsthändlers Wolfgang Gurlitt (1888−1965) und seiner jüdischen Partnerin Lilly Christansen-Agoston (1894−1950), die beide während der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus in den Handel mit beschlagnahmter und „entarteter“ Kunst involviert waren und ab 1944 in Aussee ansässig waren. Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller hat die Schau über den bestens vernetzten Ausstellungsmacher, der 1946 die Neue Galerie der Stadt Linz, das heutige Lentos Kunstmuseum, gründete, kuratiert und wird uns durch die beiden Räume des Kammerhofmuseums führen. Das Lentos Kunstmuseum verwaltet mit der ab 1943 in Bad Aussee eingelagerten Sammlung Gurlitt ein ebenso glanzvolles wie problematisches Erbe. Kurzer freier Rundgang durch die attraktiven Ausstellungsräume im Kammerhofmuseum vor/nach der Führung empfehlenswert. Fahrt nach Altaussee. 16.00 Uhr: 90-minütige Führung im Salzbergwerk Altaussee Es handelt sich um das größte aktive Salzbergwerk Österreichs im Sandling, das von der Salinen Austria AG betrieben wird. Der Stollen ist zudem der Originalschauplatz der „Reise der Bilder“, über den Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller natürlich viel Interessantes berichten wird. Lentos Patron

Patrons acquire a corporate membership, or they are especially active as private persons: patrons particularly support Lentos in purchasing art works.
In return, Patrons receive special benefits in addition to the Friends benefits:

New Friend is a trial offer to become acquainted with our Friends Association: this offer is limited to three years, no time limit for people under 30.

We would like to draw your attention to the sale of the Inge Dick Edition exclusively for members of the Friends. The price is € 3.200. Five folders each with four different motif variants have been published, so the total number of copies is only 20. The four works are from the series “2013/42 – 2021/5a,b,c,d” with the title “sommer licht weiß [summer light white]” and are each 70×50 cm in size.

Josef Bauer Edition

We would like to draw your attention to the sale of the Josef Bauer Edition exclusively for the members of the Förderverein at the price of € 1.900. The folders with the three sheets Im Obstgarten, 1970, A in der Landschaft, c. 1970, and Steirischer Herbst, Schloss Eggenberg, 1970, are signed by the artist and can be viewed and purchased in the Lentos Shop.

The sheets have a size of 70,5 x 50 cm mount dimension, photo dimension 29 x 29 cm, and were published in the edition of 20 + 2.

Lentos Freunde Kunstpreis

Der Kunstpreis des Vereins Lentos Freunde, der 2014 ins Leben gerufen wurde wird biennal vergeben und dient speziell der Förderung junger Künstler*innen mit Bezug zu Oberösterreich. Teilnahmeberechtigt sind alle im Bundesland geborenen oder lebenden Künstler*innen, alle im Studienjahr 2023/2024 inskribierten Studierenden der Kunstuniversität Linz sowie alle Absolvent*innen der Kunstuniversität Linz, jeweils bis zum vollendeten 35. Lebensjahr. Das nächste Mal wird der Lentos Freunde Kunstpreis 2026 vergeben.

Lentos Freunde Kunstpreis 2024

Vier junge Künstler*innen wurden mit dem Lentos Freunde Kunstpreis 2024 ausgezeichnet. Alle Preisträger*innen studieren an der Kunstuniversität Linz. Die prämierten Werke und eine Auswahl der Einreichungen, die unter dem Motto „DIGNITY“ stehen, wurden vom 13. bis 16. Juni im Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz präsentiert.
