Time and Countertime

The Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz and the Belvedere Vienna are jointly developing an extensive exhibition on one of the most internationally renowned Austrian media artists. VALIE EXPORT has realized a large and consistent oeuvre in over four decades of extensive artistic work with performances, photography, film and media installations.

EXPORT has been celebrated, but also vehemently criticized for her feminist orientation and her untiring battle for an equal and gender-neutral assessment of media topics. The show centers around XPORT’s conceptual mode of working, which always takes the human body as the essential point of departure and revolves around issues of its communicative and cultural coding.

The exhibition, which will take place in parallel in both institutions, focuses on new and most recent works. Supplemented with a concentrated selection of earlier works, this will enable a comprehensive exploration of the artist’s overall work.
