The pioneer of minimal art, Donald Judd, designed four large open metallic cubes for Linz. They were arranged in a row and spaced only slightly apart, allowing them to be walked on. The work was transferred to the artist in New York back in 1981.

For his gravitational drawings, which Klaus Rinke began to produce in 1972, he attached plummets to the ceiling using long cords. Rinke’s installation for Forum Metall also explores the topic of gravity. The installation remained in the Donaupark for seven years and since then has been in the artist’s possession.

Bernhard Luginbühl made his installation Linzer Donauatlas (Linz Danube Atlas) partly from discarded parts that he had unearthed in the VÖEST scrap yard. Since 2000, it has been on display in the sculpture park of the Bernhard Luginbühl Foundation in Switzerland.

The Nike of Samothrace, which was created by the Haus-Rucker-Co group of architects and positioned on the roof of the art university facing the main square, caused an uproar and led to protests. It was dismantled two years later and re-installed in 2016 on the Pfarrplatz, on a building belonging to the University of Arts.
